ABOVE AVERAGE Mike Sanders return to the wrestling hasn't been quite as spectacular as he initially predicted. Sanders may have looked good with a win over Bobby Lashley in his first XWF showing but, Sanders suffered a setback at the hands of JBL at last week's Fight Night. It wasn't an above average performance and it wasn't the sort of performance that's going to get Sanders to the top of the XWF any time soon. So this week Sanders is starting over again and will be looking for an improvement against Big Poppa Pump, Scott Steiner. However, Steiner has been impressive since joining the XWF with a clinical victory over Sabu followed by another comfortable win over Rey Mysterio. With Steiner on a roll it might be a tough challenge for Mike Sanders to get back to winning ways, but if Sanders can produce an above average display then surely he'll be too much for Steiner and he'll then be back on track to claim what he deserves; the XWF World Heavyweight title.
[ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " You know I'm still in shock from Fight Night... I'm just not use to losing, I can't deal with it. And I especially can't deal with losing to some fat, old redneck like JBL... the man should've been just another easy victory. What happened out there? " [ 'Average' Mark Jindrak ] " Don't beat yourself up over it Mike, everybody has an off day, a bad day at the office. " [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Well I'm not everybody... when you're above average, you're not supposed to have off days. After a loss like that I can almost understand why some guys might turn to other ways of improving their performance. " [ 'Average' Mark Jindrak ] " What do you mean 'other ways' ? " [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Haha... I thought even you would know what I was talking about Jindrak, then again subtlety never has been one your strong points. Anyway, don't worry I'll try and explain it to you as simply as possible. Basically, there are one or two guys out there that might not necessarily get all there strength and physique from extra workouts at the gym. Instead, they'll pop a few pills in the morning or take a few shots in some sad hope that they'll gain a bit of muscle and suddenly turn from below average to above average. " [ 'Average' Mark Jindrak ] " Ah, right... I've got it now Mike. " [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Well now that you've eventually worked that one out I hope I don't need to tell you exactly who might be so desperate that they've turned to taking a few injections now and again. I mean there's only one guy in the XWF that's so stupid he thinks people will believe that his freakish 'muscle' is all natural. " Jindrak smiles knowingly, which is a change from his usual vacant expression. Jindrak then follows Sanders up a small number of steps at the bottom of the car park, they lead up to the building the two have been making their way towards. Sanders continues speaking as the two reach the entrance. [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " I know this is a little out of character for me but when I look at Scott Steiner I really feel sorry for him. He's got a problem, an addiction and he's showing no signs of sorting himself out. What Steiner really needs is a wake-up call, he needs to realise that not only is he an addict and that his addiction isn't doing him any favours in the ring. All those injections might have made him look like he's got some shred of ability but don't be fooled... underneath that illegally enhanced body of his Steiner's just the same as any other below average wrestler. I'll make it clear for everyone at Fight Night that Steiner can't match up to me for a damn second, nobody can match up to my above average ability. I do admit though that I'm only human... even I slip up now and again and that happened last week against JBL, but it was freak occurrence. For me not to give an above average performance happens once in a blue moon and with that simply average performance behind me all of the XWF can rest assured that on Thursday Night I'll be back to winning ways. " As Sanders stops speaking he moves straight into the building and Jindrak follows, just glancing up at the sign above the building reading 'Addiction Clinic' before moving through a set of double doors and into a small reception area. Mike Sanders's scans the room, heading over to a display to his right which is filled with pamphlets and leaflets. As he browses through them he turns to talk with Jindrak. [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Now after I humiliate and embarrass Scott Steiner at Fight Night I hope he realises that he needs to get himself sorted out... and this is exactly the place where he can get all the help he needs. Although, before he sorts himself out he needs to take the first step and admit he's got a problem. Now usually it's the first step that's the hardest... but I think I can give Steiner a hand and help him to realise that treatment is his only option. You see if we wants to stick it out in the XWF then he'll only be getting beating after beating week in and week out... he'll look like a complete joke. But who knows maybe if he gets some much needed help for his addiction he could concentrate more on actually improving in the ring rather than wondering where he'll get his next bottle of pills from. " While Sanders has been talking Mark Jindrak has been browsing through the pamphlets and leaflets on display. As Jindrak reads through one he chuckles to himself and then interrupts Mike as he draws his attention to a page in the leaflet he's reading. [ 'Average' Mark Jindrak ] " Hah-Ha... check this out Mike, there are some interesting side effects to taking steroids. First off you've got shrinking of the testicles, followed by infertility and then rounded off nicely by development of breasts. " [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Hah-Ha... well I've always heard that Steiner's grapefruits were more raisin sized. " [ 'Average' Mark Jindrak ] " Oh but there's more... supposedly steroid abusers can be excessively aggressive and there's a chance of premature baldness. " [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " This is all the evidence you'd ever need to know that Steiner was taking those injections... the guy's definitely looking pretty thin on top and you only need to look at the guy for a second and he'll fly off the handle, fuckin' this and fuckin' that... all while he pops another blood vessel. " [ 'Average' Mark Jindrak ] " Well I wasn't too convinced at first, people say things in the locker room but I don't always pay much attention, this time though I guess the rumours might be true... ' cause Steiner really does have the classic signs. " [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Well speaking of locker room rumours, people have been talking about drug tests and I think that might 'cause Steiner a few problems. I mean if they catch him he'll end up in a place like this whether he wants to or not. At least then he might escape the embarrassment of Fight Night and the humiliation I'm going to put him through. Instead, he could just disappear over night and at least he wouldn't have to show his face on Thursday night. " Jindrak smirks as he turns back to the display and puts the steroid abuse pamphlet back in place. Sanders then strides over to the camera and looks down the lens before starting to talk. [ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " Now look Steiner, we're having a good time poking fun at you and those little raisin sized balls of yours, but I've got a serious message for you too. You see you're not a wrestler any more, you're only an addict... you're just a junkie who's hooked on steroids in some vain thought that they make you a better athlete... but the sad truth is you're nothing now. I can remember what seems like a long, long time ago when you were nothing but a good, plain and simple wrestler.. you weren't anything fancy, you weren't special but at least you had your brother Rick to drag you around as his tag-team partner. But then you changed, and maybe even got yourself noticed... but you were only getting noticed for the wrong reasons, 'cause when they weren't chanting it the fans were thinking it; 'You took Steroids'. I mean even your ordinary moronic wrestling fan managed to notice it, and that's saying a lot. Now though people at least seem to be use to your illegally enhanced physique, but that's 'cause nobody honestly cares any more... these days your nothing but a steroid injected has-been. The steroids have really wrecked your perception, Steiner... people simply see you as the addict you are, a figure to look down on and laugh at. Nobody is impressed by the fake muscles or the whole angry attitude problem, it's time you gave it up and got back on the right track. Who knows, maybe Rick could still carry you to a victory or two if you get your act together. But, if you don't and if you stay like the addict you are then you've got no hope of going anywhere in the XWF. You'll only be able to watch as I get closer and closer to the top of ladder, while you lie at the bottom of the ladder barely hanging on with a couple of used needles to your left and a couple of empty bottles of pills you right. You're going to stay as the pathetic addict and a waste of space on the XWF roster but at least you'll have the privilege of being toe to toe with me on Thursday night. I advise you to savour the moment Steiner 'cause it won't take long till your on the ground and
[ 'Above Average' Mike Sanders ] " And you know what that means... Hah-Ha! " Sanders then steps back from the camera and walks over to Jindrak as the picture begins to fade out and the XWF logo fades up before cutting to static. |
