The Aquilline Dictionary

Here, the eagles have their own language. Sometimes it’s hard to understand exactly what's what. Here’s a helpful dictionary to aid you in reading and writing all things Watership.

 

- Amoe: Mate (Female).

- Arious: Silver (Valuable or pleasing).

- Arrul: Evil as in somthing bringing death.

- Arrulic: Evil as in man and his inventions.

- Aquilla: Eagle.

- Aquilla-sol: Sun-eagle (Golden Eagle).

- Bec: Death.

- Beconals: Dishonorable Death.

- Becsol: Honorable death.

- Brancher: First year bird or any young thing.

- Breom: Mate (Male).

- Camparr-sol: Noble One.

- Cro: Old One (Aquilla-cro=Old Eagle).

- Da: Young One (Digath-da=Young Fox).

- Deethra: Unworthy.

- Digath: Fox.

- Frali: Cat.

- Frali-oh: Cat Like.

- Freeth: Rabbit's God.

- Fiar: Life.

- Eyas: Hatchling.

- Eyrie: Eagles Home.

- Kyana: High Mountains.

- Kyana-ral: Home Mountains.

- Letri: Tongue or speech.

- Letri Arious: Silver Tongued.

- Min: Fate.

- Minoh: Fated One.

- Ni: Lover.

- Nibec: Lover of Death (Warrior).

- Nimial: Lover of Life.

- Oh: One or Like.

- Ral: Home.

- Rifet: Weasel.

- Sol: Sun or honorable (Golden eagles are considered the Sun's eagles).

- Solmin: Sun’s Fate (What eagles are Fated to do in life).

- Soloh: Sun One (Eagle's consider the sun to be judge of life and death).

- Trrali: Wise (Used in text with GREAT wisdom).

- Trresti: Honored One-used to show trust and good will.

- Uni: Last or Only.

- Unizah: Last Hope.

- Zah: Hope.

- Zeli: Small Thing (Used as a pet name for younglings).
