On the day that Barbara committed suicide, Barbara was talking (on the phone) to her "Battlefield" co-star, Idy Chan (Tran Ngoc Lien). Idy was saddened by the news, which was brought to the "Battlefield" set the next day.
Barbara only had a cameo role in this series. Sadly, she died very early in the series. Since this series was her last appearance before her death in real life, there were rumors as to weather there was a connection. Someone said that she wasn't given a red pocket (like a li xi in Vietnamese during Chinese/Vietnamese New Years). It was tradition for actors and actresses to get a red pocket if they "died" in a series. This red pocket was for good luck. Another rumor was that, since she was Catholic, she didn't participate in the buring incense ritual. This ritual is always performed at the end of a series and it is a very big cermemony. This is very common practice among Buddhists.

The Battlefield was a series that was based on China's history. The timeline for the series was around 208-202B.C. Sak Sel played the role of a king, known in history as "Xiang Yu the Conqueror." I believe that he portrayed the king very well, who was known for being brilliant and complicated. Of course, with Idy's acting abilities, she was able to portray the role of Xiang Yu's favorite concubine,Concubine Yu MeiRen (literally translated as My Nhan) very well too. Yu Meiren, or Lady Yu was known in history to be always at Xiang Yu's side. She even sacrificed for him.
Xiang Yu and his men had to escape because they were low on supplies and Liu Bang (played by Lawrence Ng) surrounded them. To escape, they had to cross Wujiang River. Yu Meiren knew that she was a burden for him. She felt that without her, he could easily escape, if not much faster. She thus committed suicide. Due to her sacrifice, there is a Chinese opera song about the events that led up to her sacrifice. It is called "Xiang Yu the Conqueror Bids Farewell to his Concubine." The series ended with Liu Bang founding the Han Dynasty.
