1. Summary of Key idea of this Section

The key idea of this section is its title, “Faith and Apologetics.” It is about the different ways you can come to experience and know that God does in fact exist. It lists Teleological arguments such as the Golden Ratio, Anthropic PrincipleThe , and Kalam's Arguement. It lists the 5 basic inclinations of humans. So, the basic purpose of this chapter is to help you defend your faith in the future if you are challenged by a non Christian or a non Catholic, and the purpose is also to affirm your faith today.

2. A-The first major idea I want to explain is the Golden Ratio. I want to explain the Golden Ration because, to me, it is the most convincing argument from the Natural World that the text lists. The Golden Ratio is basically a ratio of numbers that appears very frequently in nature on things such as seashells, plants, and even people. There is evidence from scientific studies that the ratio is pleasing to the Human eye, and seems to be there for a reason. So, to me, the ratio is a good piece of evidence to help you support your faith because the ratio just shows up too often to be an accident.

B-The second Idea that I think is important is that we have a built in desire for God. The reading book uses the analogy of a squirrel, they crave nuts from the day they are born and want them in their life. The book says that we, as humans, crave some greater meaning for life that God offers just as the squirrels crave nuts, and, if that greater meaning and God did not exist our existence would be pretty pathetic. This to me is a pretty good argument for God’s existence because it does seem that in every culture they worship some deity, and seek some meaning of life. And that search for meaning is so strong that I believe that there must be one.

C-The third important idea I would like to explain is the idea that we, as humans, all share 5 basic inclinations. . These inclinations are 1. To Seek Happiness 2. To preserve ones own life 3. To preserve the species 4. To live in a community of other people and 5. The seek truth using knowledge and reason. This idea to me is important because it shows that despite how truly unique and different everyone in the world is, we all share these basic instincts. It instills a sense of unity between everyone in the world.

3. The image of the cross reminds me of Jesus because it represents his sacrifice for us.

4. Who do I say that Jesus is?
I think that Jesus is the best revelation of God’s wants ever. I think that through Jesus’ actions God was showing us how we should live our lives. Jesus sacrificed everything he had because he loved us so much and for that I think he is one of the most noble and greatest human beings to ever live. He was also defiantly a “boat rocker” as he went against the culture and authority of his time, and that to me is inspiring because he saw something he knew was wrong and had the courage and intelligence to change fight it in a peaceful manner. Also I think that Jesus is the best evidence we have of God’s existence. I think this because if Jesus was a fake the early church may not have proclaimed their beliefs so strongly, the Gospels would have been written to agree with each other more fully, and the Apostles, not the women, would have probably been depicted as more faithful and better followers of Jesus if it was a fake.
