LORD OF THE RINGS OFFICIAL SITE
(The text on this site is very small for WebTV readers) Not really the best LOTR site. The design of the official site is pretty standard fare, but there are some real standouts in between the lines. By visiting "A Hobbit's Doorstep," visitors can picture themselves in middle earth with the use of IPIX technology. Moreover, users will find exclusive interviews with the cast, can view the trailer and listen to the entire soundtrack in a Quicktime stream. ![]() *THE ONE RING.NET This "LOTR" fan site is one of the most impressive fan sites online. It is updated so frequently it's better than the official site for news. Check out videos, join contests from around the world, take the "TheOneRing.net Insta Poll," and just get lost in the masses of "LOTR" information available to eager fans. Newly featured are interviews with cast members, currently users can download an interview with John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) and come back soon for an interview with Sir Ian McKellen

GREY HAVENS
Up to the moment "Lord Of the Rings" news, postings and trailers populate this site -- the only dilemma is where to begin? Visitors will find a plethora of images, middle earth maps and family trees. "Did Gandalf Really die after defeating the Balrog?" "Who were the Istari?" These questions and many more are answered (at length) in the "else" section. You can also surprise your friends by singing the "Bath Song" in its entirety. How? Because the lyrics to this and dozens of other songs are in the "Songs & Tales" area. ![]() MINAS TIRITH MESSAGE BOARDS This is one of the busiest "Lord Of the Rings" message boards online. Visitors can count on constant communication between fans on topics ranging from "Does (director) Peter Jackson hold our hope or signal our doom?" to "Computer Games Tips, tricks, and opinions from PC to console." Looking to meet other "LOTR" fans? This is most definitely the place.

THE GREY BOOK
The Grey Book: Notes From Ian McKellen What better way to get an insight to a film's production than through the personal journal of one of its stars? Ian McKellen has created the Grey Book to keep fans posted on the ins and outs of the grueling film schedule for "LOTR," the glamour (or lack of it) at the Cannes Film Festival and about his co-stars. Hopefully, other actors will follow McKellen's lead. While celebrity interviews can be dry and stilted this sort of candid prose is a refreshing alternative to blatant promotion. ![]() ONE RING-COMPLETE ONLINE GUIDE TO TOLKIEN One Ring: The Complete Guide To Tolkien Online This site seems to be updated frequently, with movie news making up the front page. A lot of the information here is very timely which keeps it appealing. Ideas like "Site of the Day" and "Featured Products" insure that users will be coming back for more. Information on conferences as well as various groups that are hooking up to see the movie together, meet here. Check out the various fonts available to users and the Hobbit video game. So much to do here, who needs the movie?

CABED-EN-ARAS
This good-looking, well-organized fan site delivers fresh material to its loyal fans.
