What did you do today for freedom?
Makes you wonder as you stare At the lifeless soldier laying there Lungs filled with sand, clawing ground Silent, for in death you make no sound
He was prepared to fight this awful day Made his peace with God in his own way Armed and ready he charged the beach Life claimed by the bullet that left the breech
Freedom to him meant more than life He had a loving child and a wife He hoped they'd remain free and well They were in his last thoughts as he fell
What did he do for freedom today? He gave his life so Old Glory could wave He sacrificed all upon a foreign shore It's heroes like these that win the wars
Not Cowards locked behind closed doors...
