"Dreams of a Snake"

The snake lay alone in the sand

As the birds floated in the sky

But since the snake had no wings

It was impossible for him to fly

A deer jumped over a log nearby

And a rabbit hopped to the stream

The snake knew he had no wings nor legs

But he also knew that he could dream

So their beside the babbling brook

The snake drifted off to sleep

For in his dreams he could run and fly

And have memories that he could keep

Many, many years came and went

But each and every day

The snake would slither to the sand

And let his dreams take him away

For isn't it better to have a dream

Even if only for a while

Especially when that dream you have

Somehow makes you smile
