October Morn

The glorious month of October

a favorite time of year

the Fall leafs are brilliant

with beautiful colors of cheer

Hues of reds and yellows

greens, orange and brown

falling from lofty branches

floating softly to the ground

Fields of golden cornstalks

rattle softly in the chilling breeze

above there's perfect formations

of migrating Canadian Geese

The heavens and the earth

both brace for winters cold

that refreshes our mortal senses

just as in the days of old

The fragrance of burning wood smoke

perfumes the cool fall air

while children and their faithful dogs

frolic in leafs without a care

The raking of fresh fallen leafs

the fiery glow of burning brush

gives Mother Nature a reason to pause

to take a break from the seasons rush

Sunday morning church bells

chime in the air so clear

families walking to worship

with those they hold so dear

Wearing their country jackets

with hats and mittens for warmth

taking the time to thank Almighty God

For the blessings of an October Morn
