Supplies to Download. This file contains a winter scene created by me using  the incredible  tree graphic of Rainbow Coffi.  The full collection of Rainbow Coffi's wonderful images is housed at PSP Playground.  Anyone can join, free of charge.  To view and obtain Rainbow Coffi's superb graphic tubes, do join PSP Playground, where Rainbow Coffi's and many other wonderful artist tubes are shared.  The awesome frame and ribbon I used was created by Bev.  Her scrap kit is included in the supplies, as well. The snowflake tube I created from the clipart from Microsoft Clipart Media, a great place for graphics.

Tubes of Choice - For this tutorial, I used a delightful image created by Suzanne Woolcott.  You can purchase her wonderful art in tube and full form at AMI which stands for Artistic Minds, Inc.

Decorating the template

Step 1

Open up the template

Go to Effects/Plugins/VDL Adrenaline/Snowflakes and use these settings:

Use the default settings but make one change:

Size Range End 7 - this is only changing the size of the snowflake.

Step 2

Open a new transparent image 500 width by 500 height.  Open up Bev's Scrap Kit and locate the layer with the beautiful round frame. Go to Edit/Copy.  Make the transparent image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.

Step 3

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 135%, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.  What we are doing is increasing the size of the frame.

Step 4

What we will do now is colorize the frame to a blue color.  Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and for hue, type in 164 and Saturation, type in 255.  If you want a different color, you can move the sliders to the color of choice.  But for this tag, blue is a good choice.

Step 5

Left click the magic wand and use the settings from above.  Left click the magic wand in the center of the frame to select it.  Go to Selections/Modify/Expand 10. DO NOT DESELECT.

Step 6

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer.

Step 7

Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the frame image active and go to Edit/Paste Into Selection.   Go to Selections/Select/None.

Step 8

Go to Layers/Arrange/Send to Bottom. Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 9

Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above.

Step 10

Go to the Ribbon Layer at Bev's Scrap kit and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.

Step 11

Repeat Step 4, colorizing the ribbon to blue to match the frame.

Step 12

Repeat Step 9 adding the drop shadow.

Step 13

Go to the Flower Layer at Bev's scrap kit and copy and paste the flower as a new layer on the ribbon.

Step 14

Left click the magic wand on the flower to select it Just keep clicking the magic wand until the entire flower portion (not the leaves) is selected.  Repeat Step 4, colorizing it.  Go to Selections/Select None.

Step 15

Repeat Step 9, adding a drop shadow.

Step 16

Open up your tube graphic and repeat Step 9, adding a drop shadow.

Step 17

Apply the snow filter to it with the same settings as you used in Step 1. Make your tube graphic active and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag template active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.

If you image is too large for your snow in winter scene, go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 90%, bicubic and resize all layers not checked.

Go to Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen

 Step 18

Open up the snowflake and apply the drop shadow to it.  Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 70%, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.

Copy and paste the snowflake to your image as a new layer.  Go to Layers/Duplicate and move the duplicate snowflake elsewhere on your tag.  Keep repeating until you have as many snowflakes as you wish.

Step 19

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten), add your copyright information, and save this as a jpg.  This is now a template.

There is no text yet. This way, you can make multiple tags for your friends.

Step  20

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer, add your text and the same drop shadow as above only this time, change the color to white and apply it two times.

Step 21

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten) and save your tag with another name so that your template will still be intact.

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
