SETTING USED IN THIS TUTORIAL

Magic Wand:

Mode: Add/Shift, Match Mode: RGB Value, Tolerance +/-18, Contiguous checked, Feather: 0, Anti-Alias checked and outside selected.

Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black

Step 1

Open up your tube graphic, the Things to Do psp template and the scrap kit you will be using.  As you can see, my things to do graphic has a green border to coordinate with my graphic and scrap accessories.  You can leave your border green or you can change the Things to Do graphic border as follows:

  • At the Material Palette, in the top color box, select the border color.

  • Left click the magic wand and use the settings from above.   Left click the magic wand and left click it on the Things to Do border to select it.  I have a plus or minus 18 setting for the tolerance because different versions of PSP do not always agree on the selection settings.  Try 18 to select the border.  If that doesn't work, try either a larger or smaller tolerance.

  • Flood fill the selection with the color you selected and go to Selection/Select None.

Step 2

Select a graphic element from your Scrap Kit for the top left graphic of the Things to Do graphic.  Go to Edit/Copy.  Make the Things to Do template active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  Your graphic element may be too large and if that is the case you will need to resize it.

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked. Left click the mover tool and move the element to the top left corner of the Things to Do graphic.

In this case, I resized the butterfly image 50% and rotated it by going to Image/Rotate/Free Rotate, Direction Left, Degrees 15, Free Checked with nothing else selected.

Step 3

For a more dramatic effect, add a drop shadow by going to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above or your own favorite drop shadow setting.

Step 4

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer.

At the material palette, make the top color box null (no color) and the bottom color box the color of your Things to do Graphic border.  At the top of the Things to Do graphic type in Things to Do Today

Step 5

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 6

From your scrap kit, select those accessories that you can use as bullets within the left  side boxes inside your Things to Do Today graphic. You will need to resize each of these:

Go to Image/Resize as you did in Step 2, using the percent option at probably 50% or 40% and add your accessories as separate layers with a drop shadow on each.

Once you have the accessories lined up on the left side of the graphic, go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 7

At the Material Palette,  have the top color box null (no color) and in the bottom color box, select black.  Type in at each bullet those things you need to do today and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 8

If you wish to add more decorative elements to your Things to Do Graphic do so now and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 9

Open your tube graphic and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the Things to Do template active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  Resize as needed (as in Step 2) and add a drop shadow to your image (as in Step 3).

Step 10

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and add your text.  Apply a drop shadow as you did in Step 3.

Step 11

Add your copyright information.

Step 12

If you want additional scrap elements on your tag - add them now and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 13

Left click the crop tool and draw a rectangle going from left to right and down around the area you wish to keep.  Double left click within that rectangle or at the crop ribbon, left click the check sign.

Step 14

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 80%, bicubic and resize all layers checked.  Save as a jpg.
