FOR ALL WHO DREAM

I’ve been chasing after rainbows,
Arcing phantoms in the sky.
I’ve been dreaming dreams of glory,
Seen them fade away and die.

There are those who scoff and mock
The simple fool they say I be,
Little knowing in my dreaming
I’m the only one who’s free.

I don’t bake the bread for others,
Please forgive me if you can,
But we’ve never lived by bread alone
Since our world first began.

You need me. Don’t deny it!
For I show you what can be,
Long before your minds are ready,
by the visions that I see.

Someday you’ll walk the rainbow
That I have dreamed for you,
Not knowing how I wove
Each color and each hue.

My dreams may fade and perish,
But I don’t really care,
When I know that you’ll come after;
Build my dream-climb one more stair.
