?????? :King John is depicted on the wall of the Round Temple
of the Knights Templars, but it does not state what symbol he
holds if any. All the other British kings hold a symbol.
?????? :Many of king Johns documents are dated from the
Temple. He must have been very closely involved with them.
1199AD =April; On the Death of Richard, the barons of Anjou,
Touraine, and Maine declared for the 12 year old Arthur, son
of Geoffrey, and did homage to Philip, but Eleanor wanted
John on the throne of England.
1199AD =Oct;After some fighting between John’s and Philip’s
forces they agreed to a truce. In the interests of amity
Philip’s son and heir was promised to Blanche, Johns Niece,
the daughter of his Sister Eleanor and King Alfonso VIII of
Castile.
1200AD =The Manor of Hampton was vested in the Knights
of St. John of Jerusalem.
1200AD =Spring; John had secured an annulment of a childless
marriage to Isabel of Glaucester. While visiting Eleanor at
Fontevroult, John sent an embassy to King Sancho I of Portugal
to seek the hand of his daughter but before the Embassey could
return with Sancho’s consent, John had married Isabel, daughter
of the Count of Angouleme, 12 years old.
1201AD =John was anxious for the completion of the stone bridge
and recommended to the Mayor and citizens for that purpose,
Isenbert, master of the schools of Saintes, who had built the
bridges of Saintes and Rochelle. The Sovereign granted that the
profits of the edifeces which Isenbert intended to erect on the
bridge be forever applied to its repair.
1202AD =MARCH; Philip of France summoned John to Paris to answer
to his unlawful theft and Marriage to Isabel. When he refused,
Philip marched into Normandy, Knighted Prince Arthur, and
affianced him to his 5 year old daughter.
1202AD =July/August;Arthur then took 200 Knights to capture
Eleanor at Mirebeau. She got off a message to John at LeMans,
100 miles away. He and his troops rode so fast they reached
Mirebeau before the besiegers were awake and captured the
entire force and Arthur.
1203AD =Spring; Death of Arthur. Attributed to John. Caused
revolts all over Plantagenet possessions Castle after Castle
fell to Phillip of France.
1204AD =April 1st; Eleanor died at Fontenrault, age 83.
1205AD =Peter of Colechurch died. (erected Elm-wood. London Bridge.)
His remains were buried in the Crypt of the Chapel of St. Thomas
of Canterbury, within a pier of the Stone Bridge. see 1832AD
1210AD =;London Bridge completed.
1210AD =;Robert, Baron Fitzwalters, is Lord of Baynard Castle,
father of Matilda the Fair. He was one of the Barons who came
armed to John and demanded the Magna Charta.
1210AD =;There is a record of the failure of Fitzwalter to place
delinquents in the stocks, which he had set up at the Castle at
his own will. He was made to take them down. The Fitzwalters
also had the privilege of drowning traitors in the Thames. The
traitor was tied to a pillar at wood wharf while the tide flowed
over him twice.
1213AD =Baron Fitzwalter demolished the tower of Montfichet.
