Article 14, TALK TO ME!

In this section I am going to go over the system of “silent communication”, which is the entire reason for all the rules, signals, signs, and laws. It is based on the simple fact that when you are driving in an eclosed car you become mute. You can niether hear the other driver nor be heard by them. You cannot tell them what you are about to do unless you ‘speak’ the language of driving.

The most amazing thing about driving laws, is how it has made everyone equal in law. Did you know that at one time in our history before cars, during the time of horses, that the rich had ‘right of way’? whoever had the bigger, more opulant vehicles, or the higher degree of rank demanded and got ‘right of way’.

Our present day rules make everyone equal before the law. However, it appears that some people think that they can go back to those old ways by ignoring; ‘silent communication’.

Once you have mastered the complexities of how your car works, such as the gears, gas and brakeing, heaters, lights, turn signals etc., you expect to go on the road and drive! And come home alive!

How do you do that? By learning the rules of the road. Rules, I might add, that came about by the deaths of many people like yourself. For every time someone died in an automobile accident they learnt another reason to have a new rule of driving. Rules aren’t designed to make your trip hard but to get you safely to where you are going. Every one who is sober knows that people are killed by drunk drivers. So why they are not held accountable as murderers is beyond my understanding.

However those laws are not going to change until you decide to change them. When you wake up to the fact that Judges, lawyers, and the very rich like to drink as much as anyone and get away with driving in that state, and make the rules that keep them out of jail, then you will fight to change the laws on drunk driving from manslaughter to murder.

Once you are in your car you can no longer be able to communicate except for one method; the road rules. All those rules you had to learn from the drivers manual before you got your licences. Those rules told you what to do at corners, who had right of way, where and when. How fast you can go, what the signs meant. Even if you can’t read the shapes and colors told you what they meant.

There are other rules that told you what to do for fire and ambulances, what lane you should be in, turning rules, and lights.

All of the above are the rules laid down by the municipality, provence, state, or country. But there is another set of rules. Those are the ones that tell you how to ‘speak’ to other drivers using your cars lights, brakes and turn signals. 'Silent communication.' When you 'don’t, won’t, or can’t ' use them you have an accident. Most road rage today is from ignoring these signals and acting as if you are the only car on the road.

WHEN SILENT COMMUNICATION IS NEEDED.

When exactly do we need to know and use ‘silent communication’?

1. We need to know what is happening up ahead.

If we are behind a van or truck that cuts off our view, we need his signals to alert us to danger ahead.

Signal: tapping his brakes to let us know he’s slowing down or about to stop. Signal: tapping brakes and putting on right turn signal to let us know he’s stopping and pulling over. (If we are on a highway with no cross streets.)

This is one of the main reasons why you should pull back far enough to react to an emergancy situation.

2. Going to make a left turn where there are no left turn lanes.

We need to signal cars coming towards us and cars behind us that we are turning. If we don’t have signals on then we may be stopped for a pedestrian.

I have been stopped in a school zone crosswalk to let a child cross when a car drove onto the grass verge to pass me on the right almost killing the child.

3. When we are going to pull out of our lane to pass or enter another lane. We need to use our turn signal to alert the cars behind us,in case they were going to do the same thing at the same time.

Brake lights and turn signals and rules are all you have to communicate with, so use them. TALK TO THE OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE ONLY LANGUAGE YOU CAN USE.
