I saw a vision pure and true
While lying on my bed.
Vista's of another world
To which my gaze was led.
Sky,clouds,mountians blue,
And forest green,close by.
Then movement in the forground
Caught and held my eye.
Gripped in fear, in silent dread,
I watched a temple grow.
An alabaster marvel,
As pure as pristine snow.
Three steps for base,
Four pillars,cornered,'rose.
Then, growing from these pillars,
A lintal did each enclose.
The Temple done, my eye was drawn
Within its sacred frame.
And there I spied a wonder
That set my soul aflame.
A drop of blood appeared
Upon the Temple ground,
Formed into a river,
Toward the step was bound.
While I in awe and wonder,
Sensed that this was GOD!
And on the steps words were carved
As from a HOLY ROD.
As each word was formed
Upon that stair
Within my soul
T'was written there.
In stillness I did bear the pain
Of a glory to big to hold.
Altered beyond all knowing
By letters carved in gold.
OH! Fellow human, you'll never know,
How close to death this soul did go.
A GODLY PRESENCE when it draws near,
Overwhelms the heart with fear.
We are such meager bits of LIFE
Which crawl upon this EARTH,
And yet; within this form,
Enters our God at birth.
This vision then, to my eyes, was lost,
For overhead was formed a cross.
Unlike and seen before.
Every Atom of its form
Did burn in place
And shamed the morn.
Moses burning bush, I know
Out of that very same law did glow.
A secret I was allowed to see,
Of what in future was going to be.
Of Hiroshima-how it fell.
But I, the future forbidden to tell
The light that burned
From that strange cross,
Upon my body was not lost.
For three long days
I carried the mark,
Branded eyes, that bore Gods work.
Marked on my eyes
So I might know,
All that happened
Was really so!
Long years have passed and I grow old
Since that vision came to me.
I've kept the secret all these years
But now my hand is free.
This world is but a phantom,
Of all you see and hear,
But what you do upon it,
Will cost you very dear.
