The Fourth of July fireworks show at Atco
is always one of the best around.
July 3rd was possibly the hottest day
of the whole summer and the entire region was
in the midst of an extended drought.
The racing show was a good one. The jet cars
always put on a good show. The fireworks
show started as scheduled after the
races but the fireworks were starting
fires in the pine forrest. The tops of some tall
pine trees would flare up in huge flashes
of flame, then burn out, adding another
awesome dimension to the fireworks show.
Unfortunately, a forrest fire started
about a half mile away and it was decided
after about 10 minutes to cancel
the rest of the show due to the conditions.
