Mustang "The Forbidden Kingdom" situated north of Himalayas and jutting up onto the Tibetan Plateau, the region of Mustang has more in common culturally and geographically with Tibet then it does with the rest of Nepal. To enter Mustang is to go back in time for a glimpse of what Tibet must have been before the Chinese occupation. Mustang retains much of its cultural autonomy and its administered by its own King or Raja, the 25th successor of his line. Only since 1992 was opened for westerners to visit this remote and isolated Kingdom.
We will take the short flight from Kathmandu; on the air way we have definitely great Himalayas views from Langtang (7234m) to Dhaulagiri (8163m), which will be unforgettable for a lifetime. We follow an ancient trading route through the numerous villages along the windy river. This harsh and arid landscape offers its own imposing, rugged beauty. The hills are reminiscent of mandalas intricately coloured in hues of blue, gray, white and yellow. Pigments from these hills are used to paint the chortens and gompas of its region in their distinctive. The village of Tangbe boasts an impressive chorten stripes. of eight connected spires. Across the river from Chusang eroded cliffs resemble the pipes of a cathadral organ. We will climb from the valley of Nyi La (12956), the highest pass on our trek. Our descend takes up past one of the longest and most impressive mani walls in Nepal. The walled city of Lo- Manthang shimmers across the distance.
