Choosing an advisor for grad school was easier than I had originally thought. I knew what I wanted to accomplish, and I already had some information regarding that topic from my undergraduate advisor, Dr. Mark Schug, at UW-M. After some thinking, I asked Dr. Schug to be my graduate advisor, also. We met in February of 2000, and, as usual, he had some great advice. He agreed to be my advisor, and was interested in my ideas, including the curriculum I'd been thinking about. We talked a little bit about Texas politics and education, and he encouraged me to return to teaching. I've been hesitant to return to teaching, only because of the last two years of my experience at the Science Academy. I wasn't ready for that kind of red tape again! The more I thought about it, though, the more it made sense. How could I call myself an educator when I couldn't get into the classroom? I resolved to take a teaching job that fall. Once I'd talked it over with dh and made the decision, I started to get excited about it! Dr. Schug also made the suggestion to get caught up on my economics credits through undergraduate work (cheaper, will count towards teaching certification, and can get into a little easier for beginners...). I'm going to try to get into two classes over the summer, if we can afford it. Return to main page Email me! This page hosted by Geocities |
