Link:- www.surreyarchaeology.org.uk

This video clip shows the initial separation for lifting the first section of foundation 3 August 2004..

Art extracted from the Artisans
On Weds 18 August on the last week of the dig I tried to capture the tubulae "decoration" patterns as they emerged. On seeing my watercolour crayon on wallpaper rubbings, John Price got me to do one on a sheet of A4 for his SyAS exhibition in Farnham on the following Sunday, which was technically the last day of the recovery operation.
On 21 August the sun glistening on this emerging pipe work brings the rolled patterns into sharp relief
Further excavated the tubulae were further brought into releif. John Price chose this out of the two impressions taken.
Holmesdale Natural History Club, exhibition 11-12 September 2004
At the "Heritage Weekend "exhibition there was display of the SyAS recovery operation.
Two of the box flu tile "rubbings" (shown left) were displayed at the museum over the weekend.

The local Bee Keeper Richard Danpure made a reproduction Roman wax writing tablet. He used beeswax from his own hives.

Richard explained that the writing on the tablet can be "erased" by putiing it breifly into a warm oven.
