new V70's design combines sensuality and strength. Its curves trace a
proud heritage all the way back to Viking warships. Its angles convey a
uniquely Scandinavian penchant for modernity and functionality. The
roofline has been extended back, making the rear door almost vertical.
This provides even more cargo space and a dynamic, uncompromising look.
Inside, the new V70's cabin is decidedly civilized. A fold-down rear
armrest instantly settles all backseat territorial disputes, while
well-positioned cup holders protect water rights. It is, after all, a
place for the very serious business of pursuing goals and chasing
dreams.
FOR LUXURY Will you have a chance to appreciate the quietest passenger cabin we've ever made? Maybe not with a car full of kids. But at least you can out-decibel them with the available 8-speaker, 150-watt Pro-Logic Surround Sound audio system with in-dash CD. You can also take comfort in our generously proportioned, ergonomically designed 8-way power driver's seat. And the new V70 thoughtfully remembers individual seat and side-mirror positions for up to three drivers. Its dual zone electronic climate control filters out dust and pollen, and once set, need never be touched again. FOR THE ENVIRONMENT The environment is perhaps our children's greatest inheritance. That's why the new V70 is one of the most environmentally friendly cars ever built. It's one of the first production cars in the world to actually clean the air polluted by others. It does so with the revolutionary PremAir radiator coating that converts harmful, ground level ozone into oxygen. In fact, through every stage of its long life -- from its production, to its use, to its disposal -- the new V70 has been engineered for minimal impact on the environment. Hazardous materials like asbestos, toxic solvents, and CFCs have been eliminated. Its catalytic converter helps reduce emissions by up to 95 percent -- even after 50,000 miles. Every piece of plastic over 50 grams is labeled for reuse. And we are the first company ever to issue a certified Environmental Product Declaration, which quantifies our progress in this area. |

The
new V70 is one of the safest Volvos ever built. In addition to four
airbags, a high-strength steel safety cage and Volvo's patented Side
Impact Protection System, there are two revolutionary features -- a
Whiplash Protection System and two full-length Inflatable Side Curtains
for head protection of both front and rear passengers. And because an
alarming percentage of child seats are used incorrectly, Volvo developed
the ISO-FIX mounting system. Congress was so impressed by this idea, it
will be required in all model year 2003 cars. Volvo offers it now. And
since at Volvo, safety is not an option, all of these safety features
are standard.
The
new V70 T5 has a high-pressure turbocharged 247 horsepower engine that
delivers a gut wrenching 243 foot/pounds of torque. Its optional
Geartronic transmission allows you to choose between fully automatic
operation or manual gear changing for performance driving.
