Jaromir Jagr first ever to crack 500

High scoring forward Jaromir Jagr of the New York Islanders today became the first ever player in EHL history to score 500 points in his career. He accomplished this tonight when he assisted on a 3rd period goal by Denis Grebeshkov in Dallas. The fans in Texas did show their respect and gave him a standing ovation for his achievement. Jagr is currently 3rd in the EHL scoring race with 34 points in 29 games. For his career, he now has 218 goals, 282 assists for 500 points in 434 career games. That's an average of 1.15 points per game. His best season was in Season 3, when he scored 58 goals, 58 assists for 116 points, the goals and points being single season records in the EHL. He's currently on pace to score 96 points this season, so even at age 35 he doesn't seem to be slowing down any. He probably has 4-5 good years left, so he has an outside chance at breaking the 1000 point plateau before all is said and done.

Colorado shaking things up

After a sluggish start, the Colorado Avalanche have decided that changes needed to be made. In the last 24-hours, the usually steady Avalanche management have pulled off two blockbuster deals which will reshape their team. In the first of two deals, they send long time favorite Milan Hejduk to Washington for Andrei Taratukhin. Hejduk is 21st on the All-Time EHL scoring leaderboard with 147 goals, 239 assists for 386 points in 438 career games. Milan has scored over 80 points in a season twice, but hasn't topped 65 in the last two seasons, and is struggling badly this season with only 5 goals, 14 assists for 19 points in 31 games. He's also a -15. Also, in a blockbuster just coming down the wire, they have acquired Todd Bertuzzi and Jay Bouwmeester from Florida for Olaf Kolzig, Alexander Polushin, Kimmo Timonen and several draft picks, including the Colorado first rounder this coming draft. Stay tuned to see if Colorado has any more deals up their sleeves.
