Users must avoid using Synnote 1.0.2.2 or prior versions.
Version 1.0.3.3 was an urgent upgrade fixing a serious bug
in its save operation which overwrites a previously opened file
whthout showing any notice to the user.
The version was still buggy, though.
Versions released after the urgent update
do not demand any Borland Package Library(.bpl) file.
Their synnote.exe files are stand-alone executables.
This service release version includes bug-fixes
in syntax highlighting -> not being applied
correctly, including 21 template support
plus more options newly implemented.
All known bugs have been fixed.
A tragic story for your information:
While installing Linux, I lost all the data on my hard drive
that had been gathered and created for years.(user e-mail addresses,
resources, projects, documents, technical articles,
all the account information of mine on the Net...etc.)
So I almost had to start
from scratch with some previous projects. Of course the Synnote had been
ready for release with all the bugs fixed before the tragic disaster
struck me out of the blue. Now that all were gone I could take care of
only the urgent part for this release.
Be careful while installing Linux or partitioning your hard drive
for Linux install not to press 'OK' when Linux pops up a message box
with a message that reads somewhat like the following:
"There's wrong information in your hard drive/sector/head/cylinder.
Fix the problem?"
"Initialize..."
The 'Initialize...' was proved to be none other than to empty a hard drive
entirely even with no partition information not to mention
removing all the data in it. Upon clicking 'OK', without presenting any further
message it just did its job. Consequently it made my hard drive an hollow trash
can.
Bang!
Beware, Linux installers! It was of Redhat 5.2 and the kind of distribution is not apparent.
It was kind of gotten from a CD cover. The install procedure had been
proceeding by DRUIDs....
