From the Vice President Floyd Rood
Once again our day has come and gone. All the hours of hard work all came together on Sunday the 17th of September. The day turned out to be more Summer like than Fall weather.
The Show this year was down a few birds, but I guess this is the trend with gas prices and all. Our numbers were down about 30 birds from last year, don't sound like much but we have a fairly small Show.
It makes us all feel proud of our Show to have people tell us how much they love our little Show. We had one family make a 4 hour trek to get to our Show with just 3 birds. The Watkins Family drove up from Conesus, New York. Only Hannah had birds entered this year, but all three were in on the Junior Showmanship competition. They all won their respective divisions. They were followed up by Rachel Hunter Senior Division, Sara Orlowski Junior Division and Abby Currier Novice Division. Congratulations to all.
One of our Junior members, Hanna Watkins, is going to represent New York State in the National Avian Bowl Competition in Louisville, Kentucky this November. Go Hannah!!! We're all with ya.
The Club this year did a 50/50 raffle to benefit Bill Whitney. I was extremely proud of the young man who won the drawing, John Orlowski, who donated his winnings back to the Whitneys.
A big Thank You goes out to everyone who was part of our Show in any way. It is not the people who run a Show that make it possible, it is all the people who Show, help setup and tear down, work the raffle tables, help with the Swap Meet outdoors, and also the people who just stop by and look around and buy tickets for our raffles.
Special thanks go out to our Judges, Paul Kroll, who did the Open Show and John Pierce, who judged our Juniors. They both did a super job.
The results of our show are:
JR Champion Abbigail Currier on a brown red modem game pullet.
JR Reserve Champion Anthony Wynne on a black Old English pullet
