Angels in Pigtails
They're angels in pigtails
but we call them girls.
Some come with freckles
and some come with curls.
They're bundles of ribbons
with bows in their hair,
And our smiles seem to linger
long after they're there.
They're fresh as a daisy
at bedtime, it seems,
As they share with the sandman
such wonderful dreams.
They're rainbows and sunshine
in satin and lace,
And the mem'ries they leave us,
the years can't erase.
They're angels in pigtails,
so precious and dear,
And I'll tell you a secret--
they're worth every tear!
