Diana's Stained Glass |
|
|
|
My wife got interested in stained glass in 1999. She took some beginner classes at the local stained glass supply house and the rest, as they say, is history! For christmas
1999 I got her a "care package" of a bunch of things on her christmas list that were all stained glass related including the essential diamond grinder. For a year she worked on projects by putting a board on top the washer and dryer in the basement -
not exactly the best place to work! Over the holidays we built her a shop in a corner of the basement and she now has it decked out with all her stuff - a much friendlier space! Here are her projects to date, they're getting more complicated and
beautiful! |

This is her very first project - this is meant to hang in our half bath window once we get it remodeled. |

Her second project was this panel which hangs in our full bath window. |

Next was this panel which is now in the upper section of our "parlor" window. Our house was built in 1900 and this looks great! |

Here are some other items she's made:
Top: Birthday present for our youngest daughter who loves, can't get engough of, DOGS!
Left: candle holders, pencil holder,
and hanging heart
Below: An eagle for our other daughter who has at least 1,000,000 eagles in her room, on shirts, clocks, posters, you name it! This one hangs from a stand
Hmmm, nothing here with engines for Dad yet... |

This is her large ongoing project - a very intricate hummingbird - lots of pieces too small for me to hold! This will go into what used to be a small window at the top or our
stairs. When we remodeled the window became part of an inside wall, but we chose to keep it and light it from behind. So, this will have light behind it to shine out at the top of the stairs. |

This is Diana's shop in the basement. We made this over the holiday's in 2000. We bought some cheap countertop from Home Depot and built the frame from there. Building the
frame was a challenge as the floor in our 101 year old house is NOT level! So, we built it on site and cut each post to the correct height to make the work surface level.
The open drawer in the lower portion of the picture is a light box. It
has a circular flouresent light in it with a plexiglass top. Glass and patterns can be laid on top to better see colors, lines, etc.
Her bandsaw is in the foreground with the grinder behind it and various hand tools on the wall. Lots of light
provided by two 4 foot flouresent fixtures. |
