This is where I grew up, and is now where my wife and I and our kids live - this picture was taken in the fall of 1990. My parents bought the farm (60 acres) in
1964 and I grew up here. I moved away in 1982 when my wife and I were married. Dad passed away in 1996 and Mom couldn't live here by herself any more. My wife and I "bought the farm" from my Mom in 1997 when we moved back to Michigan from Houston, TX.
The farm was just as my Dad had left it when he passed away, and I've done a lot of cleaning, sorting, throwing away and reminiscing as I go through each of the barns, the basement and the attic in the house. This picture shows the house and barns.
The West line fence is just visible at the top left of the picture (the edge of the field). The property is 1/2 mile deep and has about 49 acres tillable, 9 acres of woods and 1 acre of buildings. |
