Fiji's Geography



Fiji has many intriguing and unique qualities that have caused the island to have many visitors and inhabitants. Some qualities that have kept people wanting to visit and live there are the location, history, culture, religion, language, and foods. You can enjoy Fiji year round due to the wonderful weather it has.




Fiji has 322 islands, 110 are residential, and 522 small islands. It is located in South Pacific Ocean close to Hawaii and New Zealand. The two main islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Leva .Viti Levu is 50 % of the Fiji region, and 75% people. Vanua Leva covers about 30% land and 18% people.


Fiji's entire area is about 18,270 square miles. These two islands cover 87% of Fiji. The larger islands were created from volcanoes, but the smaller ones are coral reefs. Fiji has one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world.

The main rivers in Fiji are Rewa, the Ba, the Navua, and the Dreketi. The largest river in Viti Levu is the Rewa, and in the Vanua Levu is Dreketi. In addition, Suva is the capital of Fiji, and the biggest city.

Fiji’s plants consist of hardwood trees, mangroves, bamboo, and coconut palms. Some animals that live there are rats, bats, dogs, goats, horses, snakes, lizards, sheep’s, and birds.
Fiji’s main supplies are its hardwood trees and plentiful aquatic life. Some supplies that Fiji provides are timber, fish. gold, copper.
