WELCOME TO NATIONAL PRO WRESTLING NPW came into being on May 10th, 2001 as a Northern Pro Wrestling, a small and unstable independent promotion. With but a few members on our roster, NPW made friendly ties with the now-defunct Canadian Wrestling League [later Championship Wrestling League]. The closure of that promotion some months later lead to an influx of CWL talent into NPW, and the core of Northern Pro Wrestling was born. Growing in both quality and stability quickly as an independent, NPW later joined the Coalition of Affiliated Leagues (CAL) on January 10th, 2002. During our Coalition tenure, NPW captured five CAL World championships and became the undisputed flagship promotion of the CAL. On March 25th, 2003, NPW departed the Coalition in order to seek our independent status once more, and to follow a desire to grow under our own banner - and grow we did. On May 18th, 2003, Northern Pro Wrestling became National Pro Wrestling. Since our humble beginnings in 2001, NPW has earned our reputation as one of the best efeds in the world by cherishing our base principles. Our mandate is simple. We will attempt : - to produce quality cards and storylines; - to not angle match finishes under any circumstances; - to not not produce summarized or late cards; - to accept only the best characters and handlers. No greater than the sum of her parts, NPW's primary strength is her handlers, who are both amongst the best roleplayers found anywhere and the pillars of our friendly, family-based environment. Since the day we first held a card, the handlers have become so involved in the success of the product that NPW has become the closest-knit federation going. With the inception of the "Genetic Monkeys" - NPW's stalwart booking and writing team - the quality of our game has only grown. This combination of values, handler participation and management dedication has lead to fantastic results. Since NPW was born over two years ago, the number of late cards can be counted on one hand, and there has never been a "flame war" on an NPW board. With the adoption of our handler-determined voting system to determine match winners, the posibility of management bias has been all but eliminated. The relationship between handlers and management in regards to the production of NPW events and storylines finally took us to a point where NPW's standards of excellence and expectation on both sides grew rapidly. If you are seeking to join NPW, you must fill out the form on the "Join The Team" page linked off of our front page. Established handlers with a multitude of roleplaying work to show stand a better chance of being invited into the promotion than "sight-unseen" applicants, but this does not by any means indicate that we will not offer an invitation to a new handler : we are seeking quality characters *and* handlers, wherever they might be. ROLE PLAYING Role-playing is the only factor in NPW when determining winners. To roleplay, simply post your promos on the NPW RP Board. Role-playing is big in NPW, so be sure to participate. If you have a match, it is expected of you to roleplay for that match. If you do not roleplay, you're gearing yourself up for a loss. NPW demands a minimum of two RPs a week, and we do encourage you to RP as often as you like. There is no deadline for RP's in NPW and no maximum RP limit, but we STRONGLY suggest roleplaying before Friday at noon, EST, when our votes go out to the handlers... and we frown strongly at "spamming" your opponent. No-shows will be judged harshly, and will lead to suspension, probation or firing. STRATS AND SEGMENTS Strats, unlike RP's, must be recieved by the fed-head by Fridays at 11:59 pm, EST. You don't have to Strat -- it's optional. Send the strategy to NPW's email address, outlying what you want to do : an interview backstage, a sneak attack, a special entrance, etc. They'll be put into the match if at all possible. They aren't mandatory, and they do not count towards winning matches, so if you don't use them, your character will fight normally. Segments must be recieved by Saturdays at noon, EST. MATCHES NPW reserves the right to sign any matches that we feel should take place. However, we also want the wrestlers themselves to get to pick who they will wrestle. Therefore, if you want to request a match, simply e-mail us your request and we'll see what we can do. Any type of match is sanctionable in NPW, at our discretion. WINNING MATCHES NPW tries to be as fair as possible when deciding who wins matches, and therefore, it's our membership who vote in the winners each week. Anyone who writes matches will get to vote, as will alternating members of the roster who do not write matches. The fed-head and the voters will read all of the roleplays and strategies, and decide who did the best work for the match. Roleplaying is the most important aspect of deciding who wins -- so if you don't roleplay, you won't win, and you'll likely be "squashed". Special dispensation will be given to long-standing NPW handlers with good track records, those who inform management early of their intent to no-show, and to special situations. Also, all roleplays written should be exclusive to NPW, and not re-printed for other matches elsewhere - and vice-versa. CARDS NPW holds one televised card (Firefight) each week, eight "supercards" a year, and four PPV events every year. Our biggest events are "The Stand" and "November Pain". PROFANITY & ACCEPTABLE LIMITS Northern Pro accepts profanity to a certain point. Consider that our weekly show would be held on a television station that prohibits profanity, so in-show interviews and in writing matches, none is allowed. They must be censored if used. However, swearing in segments at PPVs is acceptable, if you feel it necessary to do so. Also, we do not allow "sick" crimes in roleplays, OOC-based comments on the RP Board, nor racist or derogatory terms directed at race, colour, creed or sexuality. Violations will be met with warnings, suspensions or firings at the discretion of management. AUTHORITY OF NPW NPW reserves the right to suspend players from the RP and OOC Boards at any time, as well as ban players acting improperly in NPW. Firings in all matters are at the discretion of the fedhead and staff. CONCLUSION Aside from what's outlined here, just remember : it's only a game, and regardless of who wins or loses, have fun. |
