| JOSEPH ROSE Height : 6'6" Weight : 260 lbs. Website : www.npwrestling.com/roster/rose Born October 31, 1978 in Holley, New York. Perhaps it was an omen that Joseph Rose was born on the same date that Halloweens I and II are set. As he's always been a little strange, and recently his life has become a series of strange and macabre stories. As a child, he was often made fun of because of his bright red hair, and the general creepy vibe that he always gave off. He discovered pro wrestling at a very young age, and became hooked immidiately. He followed the sport through his adolescence, always dreaming of one day stepping into the ring himself, but he always thought that it would remain just that, a dream. It was when a he became friends with the "new kid" in town Curt Catastrophe that he became serious about his dreaming of a life in wrestling, and the two started their careers along the same path. A back injurt incurred during training set his pro debut back a few months, and when he finally followed Curt to Insane Fantasy Wrestling, Curt had already started to make a name for himself, and Rose assumed he could do the same. Naming himself Chris P. Lettuce in honor of friend-trainer-mentor Flip D. Byrd, Rose's career started very unceremoniously, with three humiliating losses to current NPW laughing-stock Skip Roberts. He became the joke of the company, but actually won the company's Television Championship via forfeit from Roberts, but was then promptly low-blowed by his girlfriend Kristy, another in a long line of public humiliations that he would suffer with the company. Reverting back to his birth-name in an attempt to gain respect, Rose joined Curt in a short-lived stable dubbed the "Partners In Crime", as the two put behind-the-scenes animosity behind them. The group wouldn't last long, as evern though Rose drove two competitors from the company, he was still considered a joke, and "rising star" Curt bailed from their union, kicking-off the running conflict that would come to ahead some three years later in NPW. Curt's actions seemed to be justified when Rose dropped the IFW Television Championship to talk show host/wrestler Chance Stuart thanks to outside interference. Rose would regain the title, but would suffer another humiliation, as he decried what he thought was phony sentiment for Mike Dynamo, who was thought to be killed during a match. Rose was then beating unconscious by an unseen assailant, leaving any chance that he had to gain respect in the dust. Rose would become frustrated with the lack of respect, as well as the company's ultra-hardcore atmosphere, and would adopt an anti-hardcore stance, just as the company quickly came to a close. One night, two months into his career, Rose was approached by Emery Marks, a man who was starting his own wrestling company, called Intense Championship Wrestling, and had signed a away a few of IFW's already diminishing talent pool. Rose agreed to join, and during the final IFW show, he took part in an attack on IFW superstars during what would prove to be the company's final show. His fortunes with IFW were for the better, but he still couldn't find that elusive respect in the wrestling world. He would reach the finals of the tournament to crown the inaugural IFW Champion, but was blind-sided by one of Curt's friends, "Benevolent" Brian Brutality, and was knocked out of the title match. He would chase the champion, only losing once due to outside interference, but right before he was due to recieve a title shot, the company abruptly folded after only two months in operation. He thought his career was over. He didn't want anything to do with the politics that came with wrestling. He wanted it to become a respected sport based more on who was the best in the ring, not on the extra-curricular activities, but he knew that day would never come. One day, he was shocked to discover that he had won the New York State lottery, and went about forming his own wrestling company, World Wide Wrestling, also known as Triple W. He hired people he knew, including Catastrophe and Dynamo, a move that would later lead to trouble. He vowed never to make himself an on-screen presence, a problem that had plagued wrestling companies for years. However, when Dynamo captured the Triple W Championship, his old friend Curt came begging for help, and dug up all of the old scars that Dynamo had caused. He helped Curt win the title, but soon after Curt was injured in a car accident, and had to vacate the title. The move threw the company into disarray, and after only three months, the company folded in December of 2002, following it's "Resolution" pay-per-view. Two months later, his old mentor Flip D. Byrd brought NPW to his attention, and he soon signed a contract, albeit reluctantly. Rose still held on to his anti-hardcore beliefs, breifly forming a team with Gregor Demonstone. However, their union would only last one night, as Rose was severly injured in a car accident following the "Karen Mace Memorial Tag Team Tournament". As Rose recovered, his old friend/enemy Curt Catastrophe surfaced, however, Rose was addled with a case of amnesia, and as a result, he forgot all about his anti-hardcore, pro-tradition stance, and blindly charged into a feud with Catastrophe. Upon returning, he found out that he was there simply to be an "enhancement talent", and as such the "stars" of the company ingored him, as well as those behind the scenes. Rose became jaded, and let go of his beliefs, and that course of action seemed justified when he defeated Curt and Lonny Bash in a three-way dance to win the NPW Television Championship. His long-simmering feud with Curt ended at "The Stand", where he beat Catastrophe clean, then almost broke his neck after botching an attempted "Rose Matter" from the ring apron through a table. Rose became the longest-reigning Television Champion, but the experts predicted that he would lose the title at every opportunity, a fact which still haunts him. He finally lost the title after a three-month reign, thanks to interference from Flare, and NPW's "Instant Replay Rule". Incensed, Rose became convinced that a grand conspiracy was created to hold him down, and he took a vacation, dropping a chance to become the #1 contender to the NPW Championship. Rose went on vacation, and decided that the only way to gain respect was to have power, and he was given the chance when he refereed and WPN Hardcore championship match, and NPW Co-Commissioner Angelina Bishop gave him a match against Danny Bash, the referee whom he felt help screw him over, with the stipulation that he would become a ref upon his victory. Rose won the match, but the respect still hasn't come. He is slowly learning that to get to the top and gain that respect, he must lose the morals that he once held so dear... |
