This was the first ever painting. WATERCOLOR, Dimensions to follow.
I sat on DEATH-ROW, sinking into oblivion, self-pity, and anger. Then someone gave me some paints, brushes and paper. I clung to them like a drowning man would cling to the life-raft. Deep in my own black hole, I knew I was being given a very incredible gift.
I had never painted before, and had to get the guards to cut the paper into eight pieces, then I just played with the paint, using up seven of the pieces, both sides, but saved one piece, knowing I had to make a painting from this. In the end it isn't even original, I didn't know what to paint. I stared at a white piece of paper.
Ah! The library trolley arrives on DEATH-ROW. Got a couple of books, stole a bit from one picture, a bit from another, came up with something, and lost myself on 'Death-Row" just painting an image. This isn't a great painting, but I am very happy that I saved it for you.
