Mon Calamari MC2600-class Command Cruiser

The 5.5 kilometer-long Mon Calamari MC2600-class Command Cruiser was designed by the New Republic as a vessel that could fill the role of fleet command vessel and serve as a counter to the growing number of large Imperial warships such as Executor-class Super Star Destroyers.

Like other vessels of Mon Calamari construction, such as the MC80 cruiser, no two MC2600 cruisers are alike. However, the average Mon Calamari MC2600 cruiser can accommodate up to two wings of starfighters and additional support craft, as well as Mon Calamari O-wing fighters that can be carried on the external hull. Mon Calamari MC2600 cruisers also typically have around 200 turbolaser batteries, 200 heavy turbolaser batteries, 150 concussion missile tubes, 100 proton torpedo tubes, and 25 tractor beams.

Understandably, a vessel the size of the MC2600 cruiser and with its fighter and weapons complement requires a large crew to operate. On average, a Mon Calamari MC2600 cruiser runs with a full crew of around 238,000, but can be run with a skeleton crew with as few as 47,000. In addition, MC2600 cruisers have enough passenger space for approximately 25,000 troops and attached support vehicles.

Besides its large crew requirement, the Mon Calamari MC2600 command cruiser has one other major drawback, its relatively slow Class 2 hyperdrive.

O-wing Fighter

Developed at the shipyards of Mon Calamari, the O-wing is one of the latest contributions of the Mon Calamari to the New Republic fleet. With powerful engines and a standard weapons load of two laser cannons and two proton torpedo launchers, the O-wing is a fast, nimble fighter that packs a punch. In addition to being an exceptionally versatile and effective starfighter, the O-wing is a work of art, as every O-wing fighter has a slightly different appearance. O-wings also carry trademark Mon Calamari redundant systems and are designed to be able to attach to and launch from the external hull of most capital-scale vessels of Mon Calamari make.

Unfortunately, while redundant systems and individual uniqueness make O-wing fighters difficult to damage and aesthetically pleasing, they make O-wing fighters notoriously difficult to repair and exorbitantly expensive to build. Those two simple factors prevent what is otherwise an excellent space superiority fighter from entering into general deployment.

Defender-class Dropship

The Defender-class Drop Ship is a multi-purpose transport designed to be able to carry any type of ground unit safely into battle and provide ground units with some initial cover fire. The 120 meter-long vessel requires a crew of 35, has a hyperdrive rating of Class 1 and has a weapons complement of 20 quad laser cannons.

In one common configuration, the Defender drop ship can carry up to three dozen soldiers equipped with exo suits.

Spear-class Fighter

At first glance, the Spear-class starfighter appears to be a large missile. In fact, the similarity extends past mere appearances, as though the jet-black vessel is designated a starfighter because of its size, it used as little more than a large concussion missile to cripple or destroy enemy capital vessels.

The Spear typically carries a payload of high-yield conventional or disabling explosives within its ten meter-long hull and is guided to its target by a targeting computer. The Spear-class fighter is incredibly fast, able to reach speeds of up to 2,300 km/h in optimal atmospheric conditions. Indeed, speed is the fighter’s only defense, as it is not very maneuverable, has no hyperdrive capability, carries no weapons, and has no shields. In fact, the fighter can typically be destroyed with a single shot.
