To Alicia's relief, the trip home was uneventful. After a brief stop at the Praxeum on Perivor, the capital of the Dalasian Republic, the Crimson Ranger arrived back at Ambria Prime.
An honor guard of blue-robed Republican guardsmen, accompanied by a dozen senior military officers and Senators, were present at the courtyard of the presidential residence to greet the Chief of State and her companion. Some of the officials handed Alicia datacards with summary reports of the proceedings that had taken place in her absence, before they respectfully took their leave. There was much to do, and very little time.
Heading inside, Alicia went up to her chambers to shower, dress, and prepare for her appearance at the Senate later that day. Michael was given a suite of rooms adjoining the Chief of State's chambers so that he would be able to be near her at all times.

An hour later, Alicia emerged from her chambers, resplendent in a cerulean dress, a cloak of midnight blue edged with silver trailing behind her, silver ribbons woven into her long, dark brown tresses. She was busy skimming through the summary reports that she had been given.
First was a proposal by Councilor Linari, the Senator from Fondor and the chairman of the important Senate Council on Security and Intelligence, regarding increasing the intelligence budget. Attached to the proposal was the transcript of a speech made by Admiral Graf, the director of New Republic Intelligence, to the members of the CSI regarding the current state of the Intelligence Service. Simply stated, NRI did not have enough resources or personnel to handle all of the intelligence crises that had popped up over the past year.
Second was a report by the ad hoc Committee on the Restoration of Coruscant, with facts, figures, and projections. If everything went as planned, restoration of Imperial City would be complete by Restoration Day, though repairing all of the damage done to Coruscant would take perhaps a decade, with the current resources at hand.
Third was a set of datafiles from both the Fleet and NRI regarding the state of affairs in the separatist region, from the formation of a formal government to possible connections between the separatists and the peculiar increase in certain forms of crime in a very selective few New Republic member worlds. Intelligence had dispatched teams to provide damage control in New Republic worlds bordering the separatist region and to investigate the rise in crime, while the Fleet had sent another task force to the region to ensure its stability and safety.
At the end of the last file, Alicia closed her datapad. She had another item to add to the agenda, the organization of a new Jedi Order to deal with the rising threat presented to the Republic by the agents of the dark side.
~ Michael, it is time, ~ she said, sending her thoughts through the Force. Outside the gates of the residence, a Senate speeder and its escort were waiting to take her to the Senate Hall.
