Standing at the main bridge viewports of the Judicator, Admiral Jhemiti thought of the oceans of his homeworld, Calamari. Graceful floating cities, spicy fish stew, the though of his friends and family. . .

"Admiral Jhemiti, sir!"

The call from the portside crew pit brought the Mon Calamari admiral out of his reverie and back on the cold steel deck of the Judicator. Blinking his large eyes, he turned towards the crew pit.

"Sir, three Star Destroyers just dropped out of hyperspace in sector twelve."

Admiral Jhemiti turned to glance at the main bridge holographic tactical display. The indicated ships were still hundreds of kilometers off, but something about them seemed strange. . .

. . . then it hit the Admiral. The ships were green on the tactical, indicating that they were New Republic vessels. The Admiral turned to the officer, a confused look on his face.

"Lieutenant, the arrival of Fleet units is a standard occurance and does not require any theatrical hysterics."

At the Admiral's words, some of the members of the bridge crew broke out laughing, and the young lieutenant, who belonged to the bridge sensor crew, turned a shade of beet red.

"Admiral sir, I still think you should check the IDs."

The Mon Calamari admiral glanced back at the main tactical at the identification material scrolling along the bottom of the display. "Nebula-class Star Destroyer Elendil, Nebula-class Star Destroyer Gil-galad, Nebula-class Star Destroyer Elessar. . ." his voice trailed off. "This has to be some kind of joke."

Those three Star Destroyers were vessels of the missing Fourth Fleet, commonly referred to as the Phantom Fleet by New Republic officials. The ships Phantom Fleet had vanished shortly after the defeat at Talasea, over two years ago.

"Sir," said the communications chief, seated at the communications station. His face looked pale, as if he had seen a ghost. "I don't think it's a joke. We have an incomming transmission from the Star Destroyer Gil-galad. Admiral Onoma wishes to speak to you."

The bridge was completely silent.

Finally, the Admiral broke the silence. "My apologies, lieutenant," he said to the young sensor officer. Turning to the communications chief, he said "Route the transmission to my quarters, and inform Fleet Command that we have a visitor."

General Karrik walked down the Grand Gallery towards the Chief of State's office at a quick pace, a number of aides in his wake. There was a datacard in his hand, and an unreadable expression on his face.

Entering the office, he walked through the reception lounge straight into the Chief of State's office, where the young Chief of State was meeting with a number of senators, discussing some of the proposals that had made it to the Senate floor during the course of that day.

"M'lady, forgive my interruption, but there is a matter that cannot wait. Admiral Onoma has returned, and he would like to speak with you, Admiral Graf, General Roper, and the members of the Inner Council immediately."
