Seated at the head of the conference room table, Alicia watched as the other senators and military officers walked in, taking their seats. Many of them had surprised or bewildered expressions on their faces, which was understandable, given the circumstances. There was, however, one exception. Seated across from her, Bothan Senator Borsk Fey'lya, a master politician who served as the chairman of the Senate Justice Council, seemed as serene and composed as ever.

Once everyone was seated, the door to the conference room slid shut, and Admiral Onoma rose from his seat to address those present. Onoma, a protege of Admiral Ackbar who distinguished himself during the hunt for Warlord Zsinj, was one of the veterans of the rebellion still serving in the New Republic Fleet. Like the rest of the officers of the Phantom Fleet, he had been listed as 'missing in action' and presumed dead when the five task forces vanished shortly after the Battle of Talasea.

"Thank you all for coming so quickly," said the Mon Calamari admiral. "There is a matter of great urgency that I wish to discuss with you. While there are undoubtedly some questions that you would very much like to ask me, I'm afraid that I cannot tell you the answers.

"Over the past two years, I've been watching the borders of the Republic, and at those who sit beyond them."

Admiral Onoma tapped a button on the conference table, and a holographic map of the galaxy appeared above the center of the table. The majority of the galaxy was shaded green, representing the New Republic, while other, smaller sections were shaded in reds and blues, to represent factions hostile to the New Republic and those that were neutral, respectively. One region in particular was highlighted.

"We see here the territory controlled by the Imperial Remnant. From what I have heard, the Fleet was able to dispatch a large portion of the Imperial fleet with relative ease at Coruscant, but I warn you against lowering your guard. Over the past few years, the Remnant has been secretly building up forces, and with the fall of Rommel, I believe that it has broken into two factions - those loyal to Rommel and those loyal to the New Order. My intelligence resources suggest that it is possible that whoever is in command of the Imperial Fleet is stationing his enemies where Republic attacks are most likely, in an attempt to get rid of them. Coruscant was most probably an example of that."

Another section of the map became highlighted.

"We have hidden threats with the newly-formed Confederacy of Independent Systems, your separatist region. It is obvious that the Alignment and the separatists are allied, as Moff Kaine and whatever is left of his forces has fled to the separatist systems, but what is even more of concern are some intercepted high-level transmissions from within the separatist region."

The Admiral leaned forward, resting his hands on the table.

"The leader of the separatist movement is one named Darth Sirius. He was the one who organized the leaders of the separatist systems to leave the Republic en masse, and the one who helped set up their government. We have reason to believe he is also the one who has been guiding Moff Kaine in the past few months, and maybe even years."

Diamala Senator Porolo Miatamia looked up and glanced at Alicia. Miatamia was the newest member of the Council, having taken over after Councilor Archellius vanished. Though the Diamala said nothing, Alicia could see his unspoken question.

"Are Archellius and Sirius one and the same?"

That was a question that she could not answer.
