Update on the Kuati Ruling Houses

***begin report***

The past few decades had been difficult for the ruling houses of Kuat. When the New Republic replaced the Empire as the single most powerful faction in the galaxy, many members of the ruling houses began to shift their political stance. Indeed, it wasn't difficult for the Kuat family, which had always warned against becoming tied to the Empire, to sway most of the houses to support the Republic.

Kuat became a major force within the New Republic. Indeed, the bulk of the original Fifth Fleet was created at the shipyards surrounding Kuat. However, with Kuat of Kuat's death, the ruling houses became decidedly pro-Imperial again, and many Republican supporters, most of whom were members of the Kuhlvult and Kadnessi families, were exiled.

Then the Shivans invaded. Almost overnight, Kuat, and Kuat Drive Yards, was destroyed.

Meanwhile, the exiled ruling houses had pooled their resources and were able to create a new homeworld that was almost an exact replica of old Kuat. They then began the long task of recreating what was once the largest shipbuilding cooperation in the galaxy.

Needless to say, the cost of creating New Kuat, as well as re-establishing Kuat Drive Yards took a massive financial toll on the exiled Kuati ruling houses. However, in the space of just a couple years, Kuat Drive Yards was able to re-emerge as an economic power through the securing of a contract with the New Republic Defense Fleet. Now all vessels of the fleet, with the exception of Mon Calamari cruisers, would be built at Kuat shipyards.

After the defeat of the Shivans, the Kuati loyalists have also been hard at work rebuilding. The old Kuat Drive Yards shipyards at Kuat were repaired, and a new corporation, Kuat Systems Engineering, named after the predecessor of Kuat Drive Yards, emerged as the primary builder of vessels in Imperial, and Imperial-aligned worlds.
