I started as an engineer, having done my graduation in Civil Engineering, in 1982, from the College of Engineering, Aurangabad, Maharashtra. I went on to get a post-graduate degree in Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
In 1987, I joined the IPS and underwent training for over two years, at the LBS National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, the SVP National Police Acadmy, Hyderabad and in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. During the training, I had the proud privilege of being adjudged the Best All-round Probationer of my batch and awarded the Prime Minister's Baton and Revolver.
I have since served in the states of Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal in the state police. I joined the CBI in 1996 and have been posted at Mumbai and Jaipur.
I spend my leisure time - what little there is in a policeman's life (!) - in reading and studying computers. I have attended the part-time Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technology from the National Centre for Software Technology, Mumbai.
I have been specializing in Cybercrime issues and have delivered talks at the CBI Training Academy, at Ghaziabad and the Bankers' Training College, Mumbai.

Pradnya, my wife, is an IPS officer of the 1989 batch, presently posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Enforcement, in the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police.
