Birmingham, AL - October 23, 2000

I think of all the shows we have attended thus far, Birmingham was our favorite!! Once again - I start with a story. I was home on the Internet and Amber was at work. We made a promise that if we were able to purchase good seats to the show, we were going. Keep in mind, we live in Maryland. The morning of the 23rd I called Amber and we both said maybe we should just forget it. We had done some preliminary research and knew we could get a flight and a room that day but it just seemed like a lot for a concert. But then we thought - HEY THIS IS NSYNC!

Well, the morning of the show we came across some really good seats - the best ever for us to date. We went back and forth - I said maybe we shouldn't and Amber said what about our deal. After about ten minutes, Amber purchased the tickets and there was no turning back. Within an hour, we had booked a flight and a hotel room and I was packed and ready. We were at the airport about four hours after we bought the tickets. We were in the ninth row and it was unbelievable. It was totally worth it.

We arrived in Alabama around 4:00 p.m. so we had some time to kill. At the Birmingham airport, the paper had Nsync on the cover with an article about the show the night before. We were really getting excited. After we checked in to our hotel, we walked over and checked out the venue and believe it or not some people were already there. Amber asked two of the Nsync security guys if we could get on stage for Just Got Paid but the request wasn't granted (not like we actually thought it would be). They tend to pick people for this just a little before Nsync hits the stage. Anyway, not really an important detail.

When we were heading back to the hotel for some dinner, we saw Nsync's bus. They were coming out of the hotel!! We saw Lance and the lead singer from Soul Decision. We walked over to the main entrance of the hotel and I asked some girls if all the guys had come out and they said yes. I tried to get some details from them but they weren't very friendly. Amber and I moved on to have our dinner.

After we ate we went back to our room and got ready for the show. We headed over to the venue in time to see all the acts. We really enjoyed Soul Decision. Anyway, 9:00 p.m. was fast approaching and that is Nsync time! The guys hit the stage as planned and the noise was incredible. No matter how many times I go to an Nsync show, it always seems to get louder and louder. We were very close and extremely pumped up about our "Nsync adventure". We were totally cracking ourselves up the whole time because we flew to Alabama just to see a concert and then flew back the next day (I must admit, I could get used to this sort of thing).

One of the highlights of this show for us was the new "moves" JC and Justin put in the Just Got Paid number. They were doing some "old school" moves and we were cracking up - mainly because we are old enough to remember those moves and how cool they were (in the 80's). They were doing the running man and the cabbage patch and all kinds of funky 80's dance steps. It was a riot and the guys were having a ball. It was almost like JC and Justin were competing to see who could be the 80's dance king.

This I Promise You was totally awesome too. This was the first time we were really close to the moving stage and it was incredible. Check out the performance section of the pictures to see some of the great shots we took.

I know I have said this before but the No Strings Attached show is the fastest 90 minutes you will ever witness. When it starts it seems like it is going to go on forever but before you know it, they are performing Bye, Bye, Bye!!!

After the show we hung out for a while and headed back to the hotel where Nsync was staying. We were hanging out in the sports bar in the hotel and one of the guys from Soul Decision came down with one of Nsync's bodyguards. We hung around for a while because we thought Nsync might drop in - the bar wasn't too crowed with fans or anything. Our waitress asked if Nsync was coming down and the guy from Soul Decision told her that they were on their way to the airport because they were singing the National Anthem at the World Series the next day!! Damn - we missed them!

The next morning we were on a plane coming back home to reality and planning what concert we could hit next. It was a totally crazy adventure but it was a ton of fun and I would definitely do it again - stay tuned for the next tour in 2001...
