What a show!! This was the second time I had the chance to see Nsync live. I saw them in October 1998 as an opening act for Janet Jackson during The Velvet Rope tour. Of course, the No Strings Attached tour would take on a phenomena all it's own!
It's hard to believe that when we purchased our tickets for this show in February 2000 that Nsync would become so huge getting a ticket to the show would be virtually impossible. In a way we were lucky. After the HBO special, the guys just continued to get bigger and bigger.
Well before we knew it, July 10th was here. It was a hot humid summer day in D.C. and the forecast was calling for rain and storms. Of course, in an outdoor venue, this had the potential to stop the show!
We spent some time in the afternoon at the Planet Hollywood in D.C. Unfortunately, Nsync was supposed to make a stop at the Planet but ended up not showing. Several of the employees that we spoke to at Planet Hollywood were really disappointed. There were several people there that were really hoping the guys would stop by. You can imagine though, they have pretty busy schedules so I guess they can't stop at every Planet...
We decided to head to the stadium even though it was like 4:00. When we arrived we hung out around a local radio station (Z104) who was there broadcasting live and giving away tickets. Unfortunately, a storm put an end to that fun.
We went to our seats and lucky for us, we were under cover. The rain finally stopped but then the stage crew had to get to work. There was a lot of water to clean up so no one would slip!
The show didn't start until 9:20. I guess because of the rain (or could the guys have been having trouble with the hackey sack). The noise level in the stadium was incredible. There were times when I couldn't even hear the guys singing. But that is part of being there live. It is such a great experience.
The 90 minute show is non-stop energy. Each song is well choreographed and the guys really put 110% into their performance. If you have the opportunity to catch the show in a city near you, I highly recommend it!
