The Shape of Las Vegas

About the Artist and His Work

Bill Bracken is a native Californian who has recently returned to the United States from Europe where he had been living for a number of years. He has had recent exhibitions in Greece, France and the U.S. and is now currently living in Las Vegas. His current medium is plaster, resin and bronze, which are similar to his early works while living in California. Bill has swapped his normally smooth, highly polished finishes for a more raw and interpretive style. In many of Bill’s works he adds a additional element by incorporating brass bars, steel mesh, and occasionally wood.

Each piece is unique and created from a mold that Bill has made. He then removes all of the distinguishing features leaving just a recognizable human form as a base. Then he layers and shapes plaster or resin into a finished form. When Bill particularly likes a piece he will cast it in Bronze.
