Divorce
There are seven grounds for divorce and three protections against divorce.  Since the wife cannot divorce the husband, and only the husband can divorce the wife, these reasons are in perspective of the wife.  It is easy to understand these reasons by thinking of them in a corporate model.  Of course, these are extremely old fashioned and are not often used anymore.  In this light, look at the list:
Seven Reasons for Divorce:
- Insubordinate to a parent-in-law
Must conform to the hierarchy of authority
- Fails to bear a son
Must do the job for which she was hired
- Lewd and vulgar
Must not draw unfavorable comment
- Envious
Must not sow discord
- Foully diseased
Must not be unable to perform duties
- Garrulous
Must not reveal company secrets to outsiders
-Inclined to theft
Must not steal company property

Seven Blocks Preventing Divorce:
- She has nowhere to return to.
Enough time has passed that it is cruel to turn her out.
- She already observed full mourning for a parent-in-law
She has earned tenure.
- The family was poor when she entered and is now rich
She has been a good contributor to corporate success.
