The Extended Family
When an expanded family includes three or more generations, it is considered an extended family.  Expanded households and sharing with extended family kin occur more frequently among the poor, who may pool their resources as an adaptation to poverty.  Another type of expanded family is the collateral family, which includes siblings and their spouses and children.
