MISSION
STATEMENT
'To provide girls and women with outstanding international opportunities for
training and self-development in a multicultural environment.'
Opened in 1966,
Sangam is the youngest of WAGGGS' 4 World Centres. The word Sangam comes from
Sanskrit meaning ‘Coming Together’. Events at Sangam give participants
the chance to experience India, by meeting Sangam’s neighbours, visiting
community projects, touring Pune and shopping in the colourful local
bazaars. Fun, laughter, singing, and sharing are always on the programme!
MY SUMMER AT
SANGAM
I was lucky enough to be selected as a Volunteer Programme Assistant for a
three month term at Sangam during the summer of 2000. Needless to say, it
was the experience of a lifetime! I have piles of information and photos
which I will add to this page as time permits.
Visit my Ideas
area to find directions for some activities from Sangam.
