Shooting at an Indonesian church
A gunman opened fire on a choir practice in a church in Indonesia's restive Poso
district over the Easter weekend, wounding seven people.
Senior police officer, Abdi Dharma Sitepu, says the victims were practising for a
church choir after the late service on Saturday evening when an unidentified man
approached the church and fired into the church.
Jakarta Post reported that two men had stormed into the Tabernacle Pentecostal
church in Kilo village while a third waited on a motorcycle outside.
All three wore black Ninja-like costumes.
Those inside the church fell to the ground when they heard the shots and were
protected by the pews.
Poso, in Central Sulawesi, has seen intermittent violence between its Muslim and
Christian communities since 2000. Up to 1,000 people have been killed in the unrest.
