Maluku people asked to remain calm ahead of "RMS"
annivsersary
Ambon, April 23 (ANTARA) - Religious figures in Maluku province have called on the
people to remain calm and not to panic after hearing rumors that separatist RMS
(Republic of South Moluccas) elements are going to observe the 54th anniversary of
their movement on April 25.
"People should remain calm and not panic hearing these rumors and provocations
about the RMS anniversary which the Maluku Sovereignty Front (FKM) intends to
celebrate on April 25," Bishop Petrus C. Mandagi said here on Friday.
Idroes Effendy Toekan, chairman of the Maluku branch of the Indonesian Ulema
Council, issued a similar call.
