*** A word about breast cancer ***
Nearly 180,000 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. The good news is, breast cancer is often curable, especially when detected early. Here's what to keep in mind:

1. Although guidelines differ on when to have breast cancer screenings, general recommendations are.......self-exams, monthly......exam by a health professional, every 3 years for ages 20-30 & yearly after 40......... mammograms as as often as your doctor advices before age 50, yearly after 50.

2. Most lumps are found by woman themselves during a self exam.

3. The best time for a self exam is one week after your menstrual cycle ends.

4. The average tumor found on a regular mammogram is 12 times smaller than the average tumor found by chance.

5. Mammograms done during the first two weeks of a womans menstrual cycle are less likely to miss breast tumors, than those done during the second two weeks-when breast tissue tends to be denser.
