New Zealand Flag Institute

Last year marked the centenary of the NZ flag. It became our official flag amidst the patriotism surrounding the South African war. It has since represented us well in almost every forum, most notably on the sports and battlefields. Brave men and women fought and died under our flag.

When the Prime Minister was presented with our country’s flag recovered from the rubble of New York’s World Trade Center, every New Zealander could identify with this enduring symbol of our great country. Let’s not change this part of our history. I don’t want the name of our country changed either.”

“I would like to see big businesses get together and promote the flag and support my efforts to see the flag flown with passion around the country so we can have pride in it once more”.
