Festival Acadien Continue

Sunday began with the exuberant Charivari. Jono Frishberg & Mitchell Reed play some of the best traditional Cajun music. With Randy Vidrine whose voice could "punch a hole in sheet rock", it don't get much betta than this!

D. L. Mendard, this year's festival honoree took the stage & invited up many of his old bandmates, including the original "Back Door" players. Here with Archange "T-Coon" Touchet on pedal steel and fiddler Joe Lopez he played his famous "La Porte d'en Arrière" and "En Bas du Chêne Vert".
D. L. with Jambalaya's Reggie Matt keeps great company. Perhaps the real meaning of his initials really is "Darned Lucky".

Richard LeBoeuf also won an award, so to speak, for his patriotic attire. As the French would say, he has les étoiles sur la tête, or en Anglais, stars in his eyes. Perhaps the reason for the glasses?? A festival veteran of many years, Richard rocked the Heritage Pavilon Sunday afternoon.

While the crowd flocked to Steve Riley & Geno Delafose sets, CFMA winners Travis Matt (fiddler of the year) and Jason Frey (best first recording for both) put on an awsome set of traditional Cajun music. Don't pass up the opportunity to see these guys!
