ROMMEL and GINNY ROSALES
Rommel Rosales was born on April 6, 1956 in Tanauan, Batangas, a town 50 km south of Manila. He is the eldest of 8 children of Potenciano Platon Rosales, a Municipal employee and Consuelo Laurel Gonzales, an elementary school teacher. Rommel has been working in the oil industry for more than two decades and is currently the Development and Technology Manager of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation's oil refinery in Tabangao, Batangas City.

Rommel finished his elementary education in a public school and graduated first honorable mention (3rd) of his class in 1968. He completed his high school education from De La Salle Lipa in 1972 and graduated third honorable mention (5th) in a batch of about 200 students. After high school, he joined the Christian Brothers but left after one and a half years. He continued his studies at De La Salle University Manila and finished a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1977. That same year, he passed the board examination and was offered a job by Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation.

In 1985-86, Rommel was cross-posted to Shell Brunei where he worked in the Technology and Operations departments of Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas and Brunei Shell Petroleum Refinery, respectively. He returned to Tabangao as Senior Technologist and worked on the implementation of the Utilities Masterplan and Hydrodesulfurizer Unit Rehabilitation projects. From 1989 to 1999, he handled various jobs in Economics and Scheduling, Operations and Technology.

Mel is married to his Chemical Engineering classmate Maria Asuncion "Ginny" Frias Razon. They are blessed with 2 children, Rafael "Popo" (17) and Regina "Nina" (7), who are both La Sallites. Rommel collects bonsai trees, plays a stringed musical instrument called banduria and plays-off a 12 golf handicap. He has already made three hole-in-ones in his 20-year golfing career but sad to say, he still does not drive a Mercedes Benz. However, his consolation is that his name is displayed in Taclobo Golf Club and he is the only player in the history of the Club to achieve this.
