My Pod Sighting ![]() Over the weekend we went for a cliff-top walk and upon approaching one of the bays, near Godrivey (here in Cornwall) we looked down to what on first impression was a beach of rocks. Not being any blood relation to David Attenborough, we were about to walk on, when one of the 'rocks' began to move. Only then, on closer inspection did we discover that the rocks were actually seals - around 90 of them. I thought it was probably Ron and his family. As you can hopefully see from the picture, the seals have a great disguise - with the ability to laze about in the sun, they stay still and pretend they are a rock. This seems to be a theme in the animal world - that's exactly what a stick insect does and I've lost track of the number of animals in nature programmes that just seem to sit around in the shadows of their environment, wait for food to come to them, then stick out their tongue for their supper. So, if Darwin was correct, and I'm not ready to go on record to argue against him, we humans will need to further evolve to adopt some form of disguise in our resting hours. Some TARDIS style cameleon system to blend into the surroundings could be useful, failing that we'd have to disguise ourselves as a sofa or something. 2006-04-20 08:45:14 GMT

Well done for avoiding the "Seal Of Approval" gag that would have doubtless come spinning out of me had this been one of mine.

Thank you! I'd like to say that I'd done it on porpoise, but that'd be very poor.

Ah, now I see, you've stolen the blog title for the 2007 version from Marcus!

I told you he's an inspiration for us all! Kind of like a Bill Shatner for 360. |
