Eden Better Than The Real Thing ![]() I think it's always the same - if an attraction is on your doorstep you rarely visit it. In my case, the Eden project is only about 20 miles away and I'd only been there once, shortly after it opened. Admitedly, one of the major deterents is the obscene entrance fee of £13.60 each. Previously I got in free on a special weekend for local people. This time residents of Cornwall could gain entry for £5 and get a 'passport' for free entry for a year. An offer too good to miss. I have to admit that I'm certainly no Alan Titchmash (which is probably a good thing to admit), but the contents of the tropical biome were very impressive. It was particularly striking how much denser everything looked than the last time I visited. However, it was somewhat of a relief to get out - the temperature began to be unbearable towards the end of the visit. The planting within the grounds of the project is also very well done - with strips of flowering plants throughout - there is a certain order and symmetry which I found quite pleasing - too often a garden is just a random hotchpotch of colour. [Another notch along the way up the autistic spectrum there] However, the part I enjoyed most was watching the videos on how the domes and the new education centre were built - the amount of effort and materials that went into the planning and their construction are quite mind blowing. 2006-04-21 16:47:41 GMT

You lucky lucky man - I'd have to drive nearly 6 hours to get there. And I suspect you get special offers weekly in your local free paper!

What better place to be "taken away from your daily worries and concerns into a world of wonder and fantasy, where anything is possible and your imagination is inspired." Marvellous.

Yes. To see what that might look like, if you click on "birthday parties", the young gentleman on the right illustrates this clearly.

Is that legal? Oh, it's too good - I feel a long drive coming on for my birthday in about 4 week's time!

However, the prospect of being joined by Gully mouse (as depicted on the park directions page) makes me uneasy. |
