OAKLEAF PIPES & DRUMS

OAKLEAF PIPES & DRUMS are the newest cross community pipe band to come out of the city of Derry, N. Ireland. The band was formed on Sunday August 13th 2000 by Billy Mc Lain, Daniel Bradley, Cathal McFeely and Jim O'Hagan. The band will be competing in Grade 4A in 2002 and hopes to be a force to be reckoned with in the future. Once word got out that these lads had started a pipe band people have been both amazed and proud. With a band membership exceeding 20 we hope to be a force to be reckoned with in years to come. Grant Award.

The band has been awarded a grant by the Community Relations Council under their Cultural Diversity program for our commitment to cross-community recruitment of our playing members. Special thanks goes out to Mr. Tony Langlois of the Community Relations Council (CRC) for his advice and guidance whilst dealing with the CRC.

To become a member of the band contact any of our members or come along to our practice. We practice every Sunday from 3.00 - 5.00 PM in the Glenview Community Centre, Ceder Street in the Glen Estate. Everybody is welcome to join.
